Assesment methods :
During the semester, laboratory measurements and processing the reports of laboratory measurements - max. 20 points and final written test - max. 20 points. During the semester, the student can get max. 40 points; the final written exam is for 60 points.
To gain grade A (excellent) it is required at least 93 points, grade B (very good) at least 86 points, grade C (good) at least 79 points, grade D (satisfactory) at least 72 points and grade E (sufficient) at least 64 points.
Learning outcomes of the course unit:
Students will acquire the theoretical knowledge of fluid mechanics, basic knowledge of oscillations and waves, become acquainted with the basics of thermodynamics, electricity and magnetism, become acquainted with basic notions of quantum and atomic physics and acquire knowledge about the properties of macroscopic systems that are necessary for the understanding of the principles of technical equipments.
He obtains the skills in solving the tasks, he obtains the practical experiences in the measurements of the physical values and he acquires the standard techniques in the processing of the experimental results and its interpretation.
After completion of the subject the student can analyze physical problems of these areas of physics, he is able to identify and apply the solutions, and he is able to apply knowledge in the specialized subjects and in the practice.
Course contents:
Fluid mechanics. Oscillations and waves. Fundamentals of thermics and thermodynamics. Fundamentals of electrostatics. Electric current. Magnetic field. Electromagnetic induction. Alternating current. Electromagnetic waves. Fundamentals of optics. Fundamentals of quantum and atomic physics. Macroscopic systems: mechanical, thermal, electrical, magnetic, optical properties and technical applications.
